<p>I originally thought that peru would take about 2,200km (1,364 miles)  to walk (including the bit from La Paz Bolivia to the border)&#8230;well, I guessed WAY wrong.  I&#8217;ve already walked 2,400km (1,400 miles)and have close to 1,000 (620 miles)more to knock off before crossing into ecuador&#8230;and those kinds of horrible number-estimation skills should explain why I became a Spanish teacher. </p>
<p>The yellow line on the map shows where I was originally planning to walk, along the border of the Amazon Basin&#8230;but, for no really interesting reason, I decided to keep things to the West of the Andes.</p>
