I recently had the great good fortune to hook up an almost 3 month teaching gig filling in for a woman on maternity leave. I got to teach Spanish and study skills (a lovely touch of irony, that…given my track record as a high school student). I was more than a little apprehensive going in, never having taught kids that age, and also having heard horror stories of the hormone-ridden hell that it can be. And, to my eternal surprise, I had an absolute blast and got to work with and befriend a bevy of curious, intelligent, kind, wacky, interesting teenagers.
The job ended this last thursday and I was devestated. Even though I’m completely stoked about getting back on the road (I have the ticket to colombia in my grubby little hands as we speak), I am sincerely going to miss walking into that school every day and experiencing the sizzling energy and optimism that those kids just naturally exude.
So, to all of you amazing “walugans” THANK YOU!! TAKE CARE!! STAY IN TOUCH!! and as a final spanish assignment the job of translating this:

well actually don’t stop by waluga because we are all probably gonna be in like 10th grade by the time you pass through LO so stop by lakeridge instead, or just simply run through town screaming at the top of your lungs until somebody that knows you notices you. either way will work. yeaaaaaaaaaaaah i want it to snow cuz it’s raining right now and it’s really depressing. i hope it’s not raining on u in south america cuz that would suck too. so anyways spansih is getting harder because mrs. dralle talks so darn fast that you can’t understand alot of things she is saying, so then she has to repeat it like 8 TIMES! i swear i think it’s actually killing my brain listening to her (but don’t tell her i said that or else she will assasinate me or something =0). Oh yah, and whenever you ask her how to say something in spanish, she never tells you! she will only say “Well, it depends.” maybe she should be taking a spanish class instead of teaching one! and none of my teachers want me to talk about you. mrs. meyers newcomb was asking people who their favorite teacher was and why on a weekly reflection assignment, and i put down “PROFE CUZ HE’S AWESOME AND HE HAS A BALL/RUBBERCHICKEN OF KNOWLEDGE!!!!” and she told me that you weren’t a teacher and that i couldn’t say you were my favorite. how sad. oh and by the way, the first day that mrs. dralle came back, nellie saw the ball of knowledge in the garbage can all deflated, so she ran over and was like “What have you done?! you killed it!!!” it was really funny. by the way, me and nellie wrote this song called PROFE a long time ago, and i found it today. you should totally hear it. it is a fresh prince of bel air remix that totally rocks! well, actually its not all the way finished but who cares? anyways, this is a really long post and its like 10:30 in the morning and i am tired right now cuz i went to bed at about 1:47 so i think i will stop typing right about…….now!

Profe!!!!!!!! I haven’t left a coment on here sense almost a year ago! I know! sad isn’t it?! But I’m leaving one now, and gosh! So far, spanish 2 up here is such a bore!
