Well, just to bring the site up to date, I’ve uploaded a ton of videos from the shadowy past of my walk.  Enjoy a trip down memory lane with me.  They are not listed chronologically.  sorry.

Bueno, para traer a mi página al presente, he subido un montón de videos aqui del lejano pasado de mi caminata.  Disfruta de un viajecito por mi “avenida de recuerdos”. No están listados cronológicamente…mil disculpas.

RIVER CROSSING: On my most recent visit to machu picchu, we had to cross a raging river on a makeshift gondola thing hanging from a single rusty cable.  Much fun.  Marieke’s look of utter fear makes the video worth the watch.  Durante mi último viaje a machu picchu, tuvimos que cruzar un río silvestre en un espcie de caja de metal colgada de un cable oxidado…muy divertido.  la cara de miedo que tiene marieke hace que vale la pena mirar el video.

ALTIPLANO: This is a view of the incredible bolivian altiplano, a vast flat desert pockmarked with volcanoes, all sitting at over 13,000 feet.  Una vista del increible altiplano boliviano, un desierto total, poblado por muchos volcanes, todo residiendo a más de 3.800 metros.

HOOPS LEGEND: In a great cafe in the neighborhood of cerro concepción in Valpariso, chile, my friend scott and I sat, drank wine, and played most of the many little games the place offered.  Here I am shooting hoops.  En un café lindo en el barrio de Cerro Concepción en Valparaiso, Chile, mi amigo, Scott, y yo pasábamos el tiempo tomando vino y jugando la mayoría de los variados juegos que ofrecía el lugar.

BIG SPIDER: Somewhere on my walk through Northern Argentina, I cam across a number of these friggin’ arachnid giants…they even look evil.  En alguna parte de mi recorrido del norte de Argentina, crucé con estos gigantescos ejemplares del especie arachnid…aun parecen malvadas.

BOLIVIAN GEYSER: At over 15,000 feet, in the bolivian altiplano, there’s a whole geothermal playground…you can look right down into a giant geyser from the edge, not something that would be legal in the states.  a 5.000 metros en el altiplano boliviano, hay lo que parece un parque de recreo geotermal…se puede mirar directamente dentro de uno de los géyser de su borde, algo que sería bastante ilegal en los eeuu.

CHOCOLATE SPRING!: Here’s a rare chocolate spring, where the delicious sweet wells up from vast underground reserves at a temperature that keeps it in its liquid form.  Aquí se encuentra una fuente poco común de chocolate puro desde dónde este dulce manjar surge al superficie de vastas reservas subterraneas a una temperatura que lo mantiene en su forma líquida.

BRISA: Here’s my favorite dog in the world just 24 days after she was born, Brisa Del Rio.  In this video she gets pissed off and starts barking because she fell on her face.  She’s now grown up and is one of those rare animals that seem almost human in their mannerisms.  Acá se ve mi perro favorito en todo el mundo cuando tenía solo 24 días de vida.  En el video se pone enojada y ladra porque se cayó. ahora ya es grande y se ha vuelto uno de esos animales que casi parecen humanos por su forma de ser.

COCA LESSON: A brief “how to” on the ingestion of coca leaves, and the resulting effects of the mild narcotic.  Una lección breve en el uso de la hoja de coca y los efectos de este leve narcótico.

GOL DE BOCA JUNIORS!: A shot just after Argentina’s favorite soccer team scores a goal, the place went nuts.  Also filmed is my great friend Bryan Censoni, who came down for a couple weeks of debauchery.  Una toma justo después de que Boca metió un gol contra Deportivo Calí.  La hincha se alteró…también grabado es mi gran amigo, Bryan Censoni quien vino a visitarme por un par de semanas de borrachera.

MAX’S SKILLS, 4000 METERS:  My awesome friend Max is great with a soccer ball (I know, I know, football), here he is doing his thing at over 13,000 feet in the Bolivian altiplano.  Mi gran amigo, Max hace muy bien los malebarismos con la pelota, aquí está haciendo su cosa a más de 4000 metros en el altiplano boliviano.

JUGGLING: Max and I juggling in the desert.  By the way, that’s not my real laugh…it’s my special “nerd” laugh…just to clarify, eh?  Max y yo haciendo malebarismos en el desierto.  Para que sepas, esa no es mi risa verdadera, sino mi risa especial de “nerdo”…para clarifacar, eh?

NOWHERE BAND: My friend Catherine and I came across this marching band doing its thing along a road in the absolute middle of nowhere.  Mi amiga Catherine, y yo nos encontramos con esta banda tocando y caminando al lado de la carretera en el absoluto medio de la nada.

POTOSI REFINERY: A silver, lead, and zinc refinery in Potosi, Bolivia…there are a ton of these little mom and pop places in the city, each one polluting the river like crazy.  Una refinería de plata, plomo, y zinc en Potosi, Bolivia…hay muchos empesas familiares así en la ciudad, cada una contaminando mucho el rio local.

ROCK TOSSING CONTEST: Max and I (with a couple amateurs) while visiting the bolivian altiplano, and both being WAY too competitive, created an ongoing rock throwing accuracy contest during the whole trip…here’s a shot of our final contest, which I, of course, won hands down.  Max y yo (y en este video con un par de novatos), mientras recorríamos el altiplano de bolivia, y siendo los dos pero MUY competitivos, creamos un concurso de puntería tirando piedras…una competencía que duró el viaje entero…el video capta el último partido, lo que gané yo con facilidad.

STAREDOWN FAILURE: Here I am trying, and failing, to stare down the camera and my friend scott at the same time.  I was admittedly off my rocker after a 15 mile climb under the blazing sun west of Mendoza Argentina.  Acá estoy intentando y fracasando de intimidar tanto a la camara como a mi amigo scott quien me filmaba.  Pues, estaba yo tres cuartos loco tras un día de 25km de subida bajo el sol infernal cerca de Mendoza Argentina.

WALKING WOUNDED: My three English mates, Max, Meshach, and Nilesh (yeah, I know it sounds like a bad divorce lawyer’s firm) walked 2 out of 3 days with me…and each one suffered mightily as you can see as they shuffle along on our day off.  Tres de mis amigos ingleses, Max, Meshach y Nilesh (sí, suena a uno de esos estudios juridicos que se dedican a los divorcios) caminaron 2 de 3 días conmigo….y cada uno sufrió horrores como se puede ver mientras cojen por la calle durante un día de descanso.

WHALE OFF 1, IAN: In mendoza, my friend Bryan and I had a “Whale off” competition.  Who could best imitate 3 basic whale moves: The breach, the spout, and the dive?  It was a tie, I think.  En Mendoza, mi amigo bryan y yo tuvimos una competencia de quien podía imitar mejor a 3 movimientos típicos de una ballena: el salto, el respiro (con espuma, claro), y el zambullido.  Fue un empate, creo.

WINDY DAY: One day, walking with Manuela, the wind was blowing so hard that to talk you had to yell.  Un día, caminando con Manuela, el viento soplaba con tanta fuerza que se tenía que gritar para poder hablarse entre si.

WINE BOTTLES: Bryan and I went on a wine tour…it was like being in heaven for a few hours.  Bryan y yo hicimos un tour de algunas bodegas, fue como visitar al cielo por algunas horas.

WINE APPRECIATION, AH, THOSE TANNINS: Bryan learning how to appreciate the subtle shades of smell and taste in a good wine.  Bryan aprendiendo de apreciar los matices sutiles de aroma y sabor en un buen vino.
