Where the hell am I, you ask?

I’m right here, of course.  Go ahead and click on the picture to see a larger much clearer version (note: you’ll then have to click on the little “expand” button at the bottom right of the image to get the full-size map…and that’s only if you have windows XP, I think…) of this crappy, blurry image you see below.  But first, some statistics:

I originally thought that peru would take about 2,200km (1,364 miles)  to walk (including the bit from La Paz Bolivia to the border)…well, I guessed WAY wrong.  I’ve already walked 2,400km (1,400 miles)and have close to 1,000 (620 miles)more to knock off before crossing into ecuador…and those kinds of horrible number-estimation skills should explain why I became a Spanish teacher.

The yellow line on the map shows where I was originally planning to walk, along the border of the Amazon Basin…but, for no really interesting reason, I decided to keep things to the West of the Andes.

Hey I met you in June or July 2005 in Potosi, Bolivia. Lost the adress of your site and I’ve been wondering about you ever since because your trip sounds so cool. I knew the URL had something to do with walking, but couldn’t remember your first name.

now, a few weeks ago, a friend of mine returned from SA and she told me ‘hey in Peru I met this cool guy Ian who’s walking…’ and I’m like ‘oooooh IAN, that’s his name’ so now that I’ve ‘found’ you again I will keep track of you! Good luck with everything and happy travels!
